The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Bingo Cards — And She Has Positive Updates
The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
