Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.
Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
