Unidentified Rosy Sludge on Remote Tasmanian Beach Prompts Fears of Likely Algae Outbreak

Authorities in Tasmania are striving to determine a magenta ooze that has materialized on a secluded beach, with certain experts anxious it could be an phytoplankton proliferation.

Extensive Occurrence Along Beaches

The rosy-colored ooze materialized across a portion of Randalls Bay about 60 kilometers south of the city. A like substance has also been recorded on areas of a nearby shore and a separate bay.
